Is the Stock Market Open on Saturday? NSE Mock Trading Dates for 2026
Quick answer: No. The NSE and BSE do not offer live trading on Saturdays. On some Saturdays NSE runs mock trading and contingency drills to test its systems. These are not regular trading days. The next one is Saturday, 14 November 2026.
NSE mock trading Saturdays in 2026
NSE circular NSE/MSD/71999 lists one Saturday a month for contingency drills and mock trading across the share, F&O, currency and commodity derivatives segments:
| Month | Saturday |
|---|---|
| January | 3 |
| February | 7 |
| March | 7 |
| April | 11 |
| May | 9 |
| June | 6 |
| July | 4 |
| August | 1 |
| September | 5 |
| October | 10 |
| November | 14 |
| December | 5 |
NSE says these sessions are held for periodic testing of its trading infrastructure and recovery and response mechanisms, and asks members to take part. The timings for each session are announced separately, usually a day before. Extra mock sessions can be added by a separate circular.
When the market really does open on a weekend
- Sunday 1 February 2026: live trading on Union Budget day, at standard timings (pre-open 9:00–9:08 AM, normal market 9:15 AM–3:30 PM).
- Sunday 8 November 2026: Diwali Muhurat trading, a special evening session. NSE has not yet announced the timings.
Some news sites headline mock sessions as "special live trading sessions", which can confuse investors. If you are unsure, check your broker's notice for that day. A running list with the next date is on Special trading sessions 2026 on marketholidays.in.
